What lung function tests are performed?

• Vital capacity (VC): the volume change of the lung between a full inspiration and a maximal expiration
• Forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1):  The FEV1 is the volume exhaled during the first second of a forced expiratory maneuver started from the level of total lung capacity
• Forced expiratory vital capacity (FVC): The volume change of the lung between a full inspiration to total lung capacity and a maximal expiration to residual volume. The measurement is performed during forceful exhalation
• Peak expiratory flow (PEF): The maximum flow generated during expiration performed with maximal force and started after a full inspiration

What can my employees expect during a test?

• Height and weight measurement is taken and their BMI calculated
• Brief smoking history recorded
• The lung function tests are performed as detailed above
• A written report is prepared by a specialist for each employee

How many people can be tested?

On average, we can test 6 to 7 people per hour.

How long does a lung function test take?

Approximately 8 to 10 minutes per employee.

When can I expect the results?

The prepared reports are delivered to you in 2 to 3 working days from the conclusion of testing. The reports can be delivered to you via email, mail or fax.

Is the lung function testing covered by Medicare?

No as this is not a medical referral but a company referral.
